A new comparison chart makes it easier for people with diabetes to choose the right continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system.
Published by the Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) Forum UK, the chart gives a simple, evidence-based overview of CGM devices. It is designed to help both patients and healthcare professionals understand which CGMs are suitable for insulin dosing.
The chart focuses on key features and internationally accepted standards for testing. It highlights which devices have been evaluated for insulin dosing decisions, which are licensed for non-adjunctive use, and which are available by GP prescription.
According to NICE guidelines (NG17, NG18, NG28, TA943), only people with diabetes who use insulin are eligible for CGM devices. The new chart helps clarify which monitors meet the minimum standards and which ones fall short, even if they are still available for prescription.
