NHS England has released a free online toolkit designed to help people learn how to prevent type 2 diabetes.
Launched as part of Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week 2025, the toolkit offers simple, practical resources for individuals who want to understand their risk and take action early. The awareness campaign, which runs from May 26 to June 1, is a joint initiative between NHS England and Diabetes UK.
The campaign highlights the growing risk of type 2 diabetes and aims to educate the public on how lifestyle changes can reduce the chance of developing the condition. It also targets healthcare professionals, urging them to refer at-risk patients to the Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme. This evidence-based programme supports people in making healthy choices around diet, exercise, and weight management.
The toolkit includes:
- A campaign partner guide with social media post templates, key messages, contact information, and resources.
- A collection of social media graphics in various sizes, ready for sharing across platforms.
- A digital banner for websites and email signatures to promote the toolkit.
- A downloadable poster for display in clinics, pharmacies, and community centres.
- Printable leaflets for local distribution in healthcare settings.
By offering these accessible tools, NHS England hopes to make prevention easier and more widespread. The message is clear: early education and lifestyle changes can stop type 2 diabetes before it starts.
