The “five wagons” of diabetes treatment include diet control, exercise therapy, medication, blood sugar monitoring and diabetes education. In the journey of “blood sugar defense”, none of these treatment measures can be less.Among them, exercise treatment is economical and environmentally friendly, and “sugar friends” also know the importance of exercise for sugar control, but how to customize exercise plans according to their own conditions, not every “sugar friends” are clear, and even many details of exercise are confused.

In the Department of Endocrinology and metabolism outpatient clinic, when doctors and “sugar friends” talk about exercise, they always hear a variety of excuses, “I have to see the children, but also cook dishes, which time to exercise?” “Doctor, I have coronary heart disease, sports will not aggravate the condition?”

What should we do about these practical problems faced by sugar friends? In the protracted war to control blood sugar, the ultimate beneficiary is yourself, and the biggest enemy is yourself. Don’t fool yourself with these reasons. Get moving. Don’t hesitate.Insulin resistance is a key factor in the development of type 2 diabetes. What is insulin resistance? It refers to the phenomenon that muscle cells, fat cells and liver cells do not respond adequately to insulin. In other words, insulin resistance is the “devaluation” of insulin, which does not fully play its hypoglycemic role.

Exercise can promote blood circulation in muscle tissue, increase the number of insulin receptors in muscle cells, strengthen the operation of glucose at the receptor site, so that more insulin can reach muscle cells. Therefore, “sugar friends” moderate exercise can improve insulin sensitivity and restore the body’s normal response to insulin. Exercise also increases the ability of muscle tissue to consume glucose, which can lower blood sugar.

In addition, exercise can also reduce weight, enhance the sensitivity of many tissue cells to insulin, and promote the decrease of blood sugar; Exercise can enhance cardiopulmonary function, regulate blood pressure, reduce the dose of hypoglycemic drugs, and strengthen bone flexibility. Exercise can also make people feel comfortable, enhance physical fitness, improve the body’s immunity, and promote metabolism. The list goes on and on. Sugar lovers reading this, is there any reason not to exercise? !We often say that exercise, in fact, anaerobic exercise and aerobic exercise.

Anaerobic exercise means that the amount of exercise exceeds the capacity of heart and lung load, and the oxygen inhaled cannot meet the needs of human oxidation metabolism, and anaerobic metabolism is carried out in human tissues. In other words, anaerobic exercise is a muscular hypoxia state of intense exercise, prone to hypoglycemia.

For “sugar friends”, it is not appropriate to carry out anaerobic exercise beyond their heart and lung load capacity.Aerobic exercise generally refers to the type of exercise with low intensity, slow rhythm, not too fast heart rate after exercise, and gentle breathing, and the oxygen inhaled during exercise can meet the needs of human oxidation metabolism.

“Sugar friends” can perform aerobic exercise according to their own comprehensive conditions, which can effectively increase the oxygen supply of important organs such as the heart and brain, and is of great benefit to the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.
In summary, only to find ways to reduce sugar, not to make excuses for laziness. “Three days of fishing, two days of drying the net” type of exercise is almost useless, it is important to insist on, in order to smoothly reduce sugar, the health of “sugar friends” will benefit in the long term.
