21-year-old Postgrad Aspirant in ICU Due to Illness.

December 28 news, according to the “Changsha Central Hospital subscription number” official report, recently, in the Changsha Central Hospital (Changsha Central Hospital affiliated to the University of South China) emergency rescue room, a tense rescue is unfolding.

According to the receiving doctor, Liu Yan (a pseudonym), a 21-year-old patient, had abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and discomfort accompanied by diarrhea and fever two days ago, and the patient’s consciousness had entered a vague state and his speech was unclear when he entered the emergency department.

Blood glucose test results were as high as 87.40mmol/L (normal fasting blood glucose value for adults is 3.9-5.5 mmol/L), blood gas analysis showed severe acidosis and hyperkalemia, electrocardiogram showed arrhythmia, and diabetes mellitus with ketoacidosis was diagnosed.

It is understood that Zhang Yan did not have a history of diabetes before, is preparing for graduate school, when learning like to drink sugary drinks to refresh, and often stay up late, a month ago he appeared dry mouth, fatigue, weight loss and other symptoms, but did not pay attention to, until this serious symptoms were sent to the doctor 120.

Doctors said that the incidence of diabetes in young people is on the rise, because they are young, they do not pay attention to the early symptoms, until the symptoms are obvious before coming to the doctor, many of them have even developed diabetic ketoacidosis.

Diabetic ketoacidosis is one of the serious acute complications of diabetes, if not treated in time may lead to coma, shock, arrhythmia, acute renal failure and other serious consequences, even life-threatening.

According to reports, such as frequent thirst, fatigue, frequent urination, weight loss, vision loss and other symptoms should be alert to the occurrence of early diabetes.

If these symptoms suddenly worsen or new symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain occur, especially mental and neurological symptoms such as dizziness, headache, lethargy, irritability, deep and fast breathing, breath with rotten apple smell, etc., should be highly alert to the possibility of diabetic ketoacidosis, and need immediate medical attention.
