Woman Develops Diabetes Due to Stress-Induced Binge Eating

Recently, a health case has drawn public attention. A 39-year-old woman went to the doctor and was found to have serious health problems. With a height of 155 centimeters, she weighed over 70 kilograms and looked listless. After diagnosis, she was found to have type 2 diabetes, along with digestive system problems such as stomachaches and bloating. The root cause of these conditions turned out to be her stress-induced binge eating behavior over a long period.

It is reported that the woman has more than 100 work WeChat groups on her phone and needs to reply to messages at any time. She said helplessly, “Customers often contact me after work, so I can’t tell the difference between work hours and personal time.” Under continuous high work pressure, binge eating became her quick way to relieve stress. However, this habit has severely damaged her health.

Doctors pointed out that cases like hers, where work stress leads to binge eating, are not uncommon. Most of these patients suffer from psychological problems such as anxiety and depression, and middle-aged women are more likely to be affected. Doctors especially emphasized that diabetic patients should pay close attention to diet control and avoid binge eating to prevent drastic blood sugar fluctuations. In daily diets, people should reduce the intake of greasy fried foods and sweets, eat more vegetables, and strictly limit alcohol consumption.

In addition, experts suggest that when facing work pressure, professionals should choose healthier ways to relieve stress, such as doing moderate exercise or seeking psychological counseling. Avoid taking out emotions through eating to prevent more serious health problems.
